Wide Input Voltage and Frequency windows
Slight voltage and frequency fluctuations force most UPS systems to operate off of battery power. Toshiba UPS systems are =10 to -30% voltage and 45-65 Hz. Frequent deep cycle battery discharges shorten the life of batteries and jeopardize the functional integrity of the UPS by leaving the batteries in a partially charged state. Toshiba's wide input voltage Window ensures that the output power remains continuos and regulated, regardless of input fluctuations, operating on battery power only during extreme brownouts and blackouts. Additionally, Toshiba UPS are designed to regulate frequency from its internal oscillator, without operating off the batteries during input frequency shifts. Benefit: Longer Battery life and longer battery time.
Input Power Factor Correction
The Toshiba UPS acts as a harmonic filter by incorporating Input Power Factor Correction. Toshiba uses a high speed transistor (IGBT) to correct the UPS input power factor to near unity (.98 to .99). Reducing reflected harmonics to below 5% THD - the best in the industry. Benefit: Less install cost for wiring and breakers and less negative affect on sensitive electronics on the same circuit.
Intelligent Charger
Toshiba's intelligent charger constantly monitors the batteries' rising voltage and decreases the charge current proportionally to the optimum characteristics of the battery. Crest Factor
Due to nonlinear current demands of today's computers high Crest factors can result and create square waves. Toshiba UPS are designed for these high crest factor non-linear loads resulting in a clan sinewave. Benefit: Toshiba UPS an be fully loaded and not "derated".
Overload capabilities
Toshiba uses high-powered IGBT transistors to give better overload capacity with having to parallel many small transistors which reduces inverter reliability. UPS systems without high overload capability continually transfer to bypass during the slightest overload. This leaves your application vulnerable to brownout and blackouts while in bypass mode. Benefit: Increased efficiency and reliability.
Clean Sinewave
The Toshiba UPS utilizes IGBT technology at 16 to 25 kHz to produce the cleanest sinewave output. A clean sinewave is a good measure of the quality and reliability of the UPS. Benefit: Protects sensitive electronics better.
Automatic Bypass
During extreme overloads, the Toshiba UPS will automatically "bypass" from inverter power and then switch back to full UPS operation when the overload condition is corrected. Without automatic bypass the load would be lost and possibly damaged. Benefit: Added reliability and redundancy.
Total Isolation
Electrical noise may cause parity errors, system lockups and irreparable damage to sensitive electronic equipment. This noise usually travels n the neutral to ground circuit path. In most environments, an isolation transformer is the most effective tool to eliminate this noise. Toshiba eliminates this noise by providing a low impedance isolation transformer on the output of every "Plus" Series UPS. Therefore the Toshiba UPS becomes a "separately derived power source," as defined by the NEC because the neutral is bonded to the ground on the transformer output. Benefit: Ultimate power conditioning.
Communication Features
The Toshiba UPS provides comprehensive monitoring of the UPS' output voltage, output load, battery time remaining, etc. Diagnostic information is provided through the RS-232C Communication Port making it easy for a service technician to diagnose any problem. Th feature makes the UPS "smart" SNMP compatible. Additionally, when this feature is combined with Toshiba's SNMP adapter, the user is able to monitor multiple Toshiba UPS sites from one central location. Benefit: Reliability and peace of mind.
